About

I’m a Washington, D.C.-based visual practitioner and instructional designer with over 15 years’ experience in a variety of disciplines, including international affairs, program management, media analysis, and training. As a graphic recorder, I serve a variety of clients, including federal and local government agencies, community and faith-based organizations, small businesses, and artist collectives. Drawing upon a global perspective and my unique blend of visual, linear, and holistic thinking styles, I empower lifelong learners of various backgrounds to synthesize complex concepts.

After beginning my formal education in international relations,  I found myself in the training and education space through a series of opportunities and surprises. My educational background includes a BA in International Studies and German from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and an MA in Russian and East European Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  I also hold a professional certificate in Instructional Design Systems from Georgetown University, and recently completed a Systems Thinking program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Outside of my day job as an instructional designer and visual practitioner, you’ll find me in the gym or out on the trail - I’m a competitive powerlifter and a big-time nature enthusiast. I’m also passionate about off-the-beaten-track travel and learning about different cultures. These global experiences enrich my professional work, enhancing my interpersonal and intercultural skills - which enable me to form effective and impactful partnerships across a variety of disciplines and backgrounds. You can read more about my travels in the Sketched Journeys newsletter!
