What is graphic recording?

Graphic recording is the live synthesis and translation of spoken ideas into a combination of images, text, and symbols - typically in real time. The recorder captures dialogue and presentations in the moment, either on large paper, or in a digital format. Other terms for this practice include visual notetaking, visual scribing, or live illustration.

Graphic recorders combine active listening, synthesizing, and artistic skill, serving as an impactful force multiplier in any professional setting where ideas are exchanged - conferences, keynote speaker sessions, training events, brainstorms, and meetings.

What is sketchnoting?

Sketchnoting is the same as graphic recording, except the live capture occurs on a smaller scale, such as in a sketchbook. Sketchnotes can also be digital, composed on an iPad or other type of tablet.
